BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern seniors Ryder Andrews (Homewood, Ala./Homewood HS) of football and Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) of women’s volleyball were named BSC/Piggly Wiggly Student-Athletes of the Week for their performance in competition October 8-14.
Andrews was perfect in field goals, including a 4th quarter 33-yard game winner, his longest of the day. Andrews scored seven of the Panthers 13 points in the win over Sewanee. His two punts totaled 73 yards, with one inside the 20. He also rushed for a 11 yards on a critical fourth down. Andrews ranks nationally in four categories, including 10th in field goals per game, where he leads the league.
Salter hit an amazing .446 for the week with a team-best 28 kills. She had only three errors in 56 swings to help lead the Panthers to a 2-0 week against Southern Athletic Association rivals. Salter now ranks nationally in four categories and is second in the league in kills per set.
