BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern sophomores Zack Seay (DeFuniak Springs, Fla./Freeport HS) of football and Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) of women’s volleyball were named BSC/Piggly Wiggly Student-Athletes of the Week for their performance in competition October 15-21.
Seay rushed for a game-high 1630 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers 47-35 win over Austin College. His longest was 42 yards. This is the second time this season he has rushed for three touchdowns. He is ranked nationally in seven categories and leads the league in rushing touchdowns.
Ray helped lead the Panthers to a 3-0 week against Southern Athletic Association opponents, including a big upset over No. 16 Berry College. She recorded a team-high 34 kills, hitting a team-best .375. The outside hitter recorded only four errors on 80 swings. She also led the team defensively with 44 digs, averaging 4.89 per set.
