Senior catcher Jacob Mayfield (Gadsden, Ala.) helped BSC go 4-1 this past weekend in the opening round of the SAA Championship, clinching a berth to the title series this weekend, which BSC will host. In the first game on Sunday against Berry, with the Panthers needing to win twice to advance, BSC trailed 9-8 in the eighth inning, and Mayfield recorded the game-tying RBI which ended up sending the game to extras. He went 9-19 (.474) at the plate over five games, with a double and a home run as well as a team-high 10 RBIs. Mayfield also scored four runs and posted a .684 slugging and .522 on-base percentage, drawing three walks. He was also 1-1 on stolen bases, and had 17 putouts with four assists and no errors.
