    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – The Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball team used a full team effort to top Agnes Scott College 72-35 Friday night in Bill Battle Coliseum.  15 Panthers hit the floor as BSC improved to 2-0 on the year.

    ATLANTA  – Birmingham-Southern women’s volleyball’s season ended Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  BSC (24-7) fell to Transylvania 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the Atlanta Regional.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – Raleigh Schmidt (Madison, Ala./James Clemens HS) is a senior cross country runner who radiates the spirit of adventure. He grew up in Madison, Alabama and is studying religion with a minor in biology, which he admits is a bit off the beaten path. “My dad wasn’t even supportive of it at first, but he’s come around now,” Schmidt said. The goal of this interesting combination of studies is to work as a humanitarian.

    Birmingham, Ala.  – The Birmingham-Southern women’s volleyball finished as the tournament runner-up Sunday after falling to No. 9 Berry College 3-0 in the Southern Athletic Association championship match.  BSC (24-6) saw Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) and Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) named to the all-tournament team for their performance this weekend.
