BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The 12th-ranked Birmingham-Southern baseball team won its 11th straight game this evening, defeating Piedmont College, 2-0, at Striplin Field.
The Panthers move to 29-6 overall, while the Lions fall to 23-14.
BSC didn't score its first run until the bottom of the fourth inning after sophomore Austin Justice led off with a triple to right-center and sophomore Jeremy Hatley got the RBI with two outs on the board.
The Panthers scored again in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single from senior Jon Walker.
BSC wasn't able to score again in the game, but also held the Lions scoreless.
The Panthers recorded seven hits, led by Justice who was 3-4 at the plate. Kyle David led Piedmont with two of its three hits, going 2-3.
Sophomore Miles Nordgren (6-2) got the win on the mound, striking out two batters and giving up two hits in three innings of work. Sophomore Ralls Pennington started and went three innings, giving up one hit, and freshman David Bourbonnais threw two innings, getting one strikeout. Junior Blake Yance came in for the final inning, striking out two batters and getting his fourth save of the year.
BSC is at home this weekend to finish out the regular season, hosting a three-game SCAC series against Millsaps. Games begin at 1 p.m. on both days, with a Saturday doubleheader and a single game on Sunday.
