Baseball gets commitment from Kyle Royalty
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern baseball program has received another commitment for the upcoming season in Kyle Royalty, who has completed his intent to enroll and compete for the Panthers in 2013.
Royalty is a native of Atlanta, Ga., and is a graduate of Fellowship Christian School. He is a high achiever both in the classroom and on the field, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and National Spanish Honor Society. He was also named a Georgia Merit Scholar in 2011.
On the field, Royalty pitched and played outfield for Fellowship Christian. As a senior he was 5-1 on the mound with a 1.58 ERA. He amassed 41 strikeout in 31 innings pitched. He led the team in wins, ERA, strikeouts and innings pitched, and was named 2012 Region Pitcher of the Year.
"Kyle is an outstanding young man and a talented baseball player," Head Coach Jan Weisberg said. "He gives himself a chance to compete because he has outstanding command. He can throw three pitches for strikes and can locate to both sides of the plate. We look forward to having him at BSC in the fall of 2012."
Kyle is the son of Alan and Mylinda Royalty.
