Baseball announces 2014 recruiting class
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern Baseball will welcome six new faces in the fall of 2014, the Panther coaching staff announced today. The group of six, including brothers Luke and Ross Anderson, will complement the 27 returners from the 2014 Panther squad that went 35-12 and won the Southern Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles and appeared in the NCAA South Regional.

Miles Nordgren drafted by Minnesota Twins
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern's Miles Nordgren was selected by the Minnesota Twins on Saturday in the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, becoming BSC's third player in the last four seasons to be selected.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Former Birmingham-Southern standout and current Stockton Ports catcher Bruce Maxwell has been named to the 2014 Mid-Season All-Star roster of the California-Carolina League. The All-Star game will be held June 17 in Wilmington, Del.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Junior hurler Blake Stevens added yet another honor to his resume this week as he was voted South Region Pitcher of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Stevens and senior pitcher Miles Nordgren also earned First-Team honors, while junior pitcher/infielder David Bourbonnais and junior catcher Jacob Mayfield were named Third-Team All-Region.

DEMOREST, Ga.—It took over 24 hrs and 12 innings, but fourth-seeded Bridgewater College (34-12) upset third-seeded and 12th-ranked Birmingham-Southern (35-11), 1-0, in the NCAA Division III South Regional, hosted by Piedmont College on Loudermilk Field.

No. 15 BSC to face Bridgewater College, Wednesday, in NCAA South Regional

BSC is the third seed and Bridgewater is the fourth seed; the six-team double-elimination tournament is hosted by Piedmont College.

ATLANTA, Ga.—Behind a pair of season-highs in hits and RBI from senior Jeremy Hatley, the No. 15 Birmingham-Southern baseball team completed the series sweep of host Oglethorpe University, Sunday afternoon at Anderson Field in Atlanta. The 10-1 victory gives the Panthers a two-game lead atop the Southern Athletic Association standings.

ATLANTA, Ga.—With No. 10 BSC's 10-8 extra-innings win against No. 29 Emory today at Chappell Park in Atlanta, Head Coach Jan Weisberg recorded his 200th career win at Birmingham-Southern. The Panthers also lost to Emory in game two, 4-2, and now stand at 21-6 on the season, while the Eagles move to 20-9.

LaGRANGE Ga.—Junior Jacob Mayfield hit for the cycle and notched four RBI in game two of a Sunday doubleheader against LaGrange College (0-3) in a 6-2 victory. BSC (3-0) also earned a 6-3 win in game one at Cleaveland Field in LaGrange, Ga., to claim the sweep of the weekend series.
