BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Former Birmingham-Southern standout and current Stockton Ports catcher Bruce Maxwell has been named to the 2014 Mid-Season All-Star roster of the California-Carolina League. The All-Star game will be held June 17 in Wilmington, Del.

Maxwell is in his second season with the Ports and is currently ranked 16th on the A's top prospects list. He is batting .282 with four home runs and 19 RBI and is expected to start in the Mid-Season Classic game. Maxwell was a second-round draft pick in 2012 and is one of the leading defensive players for the Ports. Maxwell also made an appearance in the 2013 Midwest League All-Star Game, representing the single-A Beloit Snappers.

The 2014 California-Carolina League All-Star Game will be hosted by the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium in Delaware. Representatives for each of the ten California League teams will be present at the 18th annual event. The California League looks to redeem itself in the Advanced-A matchup after falling 12-2 to the Carolina League in 2013.
