BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 23-ranked Birmingham-Southern baseball team knocked off the Huntingdon Hawks 9-3 at home on Wednesday night, improving to 7-6 on the season.
Freshman catcher Will Evans (Peachtree City, Ga./Starrs Mill HS) was a force for the Panthers at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored.
Freshman outfielder Brian Williams (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) had a team-high two RBIs, going 1-for-3 from the plate. He also had three stolen bases.
And right fielder Ross Anderson (Section, Ala./Section HS) had a nice evening with a bat in his hand, as well, going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Sophomore right-hander Andy Hammond (Oxford, Ala./Oxford HS) got the start, pitching three shutout innings and striking out three batters. Hanan Mauldin (Florence, Ala./Florence HS) picked up the win, his first of the season.
Birmingham-Southern's next series will be on the road in a conference matchup against Berry College. The Panthers and Vikings will play game one at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, March 9.
