MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern baseball team dropped the doubleheader at Berry College on Friday afternoon, falling 7-2 and 6-2 to the Vikings.
The Panthers took the first lead of game one with a two-run fourth inning, but Berry capitalized in the seventh innings with five runs, leading to BSC's defeat.
Junior right-hander Jake Cook (Oxford, Ala./Oxford HS) started the game for the Panthers, throwing six and two-thirds innings. Cook gave up 12 hits and allowed seven runs, four earned to the Vikings. He picked up his first loss of the season after going 4-0 to start the year.
Junior left-hander Richie Misischia (Dothan, Ala./Regis HS) got the start in game two, tossing five and two-thirds innings. He allowed five earned runs on four hits, giving up one home run. He struck out five batters in the game.
The Vikings scored the first run of the game in the first inning and held the lead for the remainder of the seven-inning contest.
Junior Tyler Wise (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS) led BSC in offense in game two, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Birmingham-Southern will wrap up the series at Berry on Saturday with first pitch for game three scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET.
