Cook, Wise Picked for Team of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two Birmingham-Southern baseball student-athletes earned spots on the Team of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Senior starting pitcher Jake Cook (Oxford, Ala./Oxford HS) and senior first baseman Tyler Wise (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS) were recognized for their performances during the week of Feb. 25 through March 3.

Cook started the game for the Panthers against Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Friday, March 1. He pitched seven strong, shutout innings in the 4-0 win over the Titans, striking out eight batters and allowing just four hits. Cook did not walk a batter.

For his part, Wise was an offensive power for BSC over the weekend. In three games, Wise was 9-of-14 with two doubles and a triple. He knocked in seven runs and came across to score twice, and in his 14 at-bats he only struck out one time.
