ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern baseball student-athlete Jake Cook was named the Southern Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Cook started in game one of BSC's SAA-opening series at Millsaps on Friday, throwing seven strong shutout innings. The right-handed senior allowed just four hits and three walks while striking out six batters.
Cook was awarded the win in the game, improving his record on the mound to 3-1 this season and dropping his ERA to a league-best 1.50 among pitchers with at least 15 innings.
Coming off a week where he was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, this was Cook's first time to win SAA Pitcher of the Week this season.
Birmingham-Southern will host the Emory Eagles in its next game on Tuesday, March 12.
