ATLANTA – The Birmingham-Southern baseball team fell to Emory University 7-3 on Tuesday afternoon, falling to 20-10 overall on the season.
The Panthers plated runs in the second, fifth and seventh innings but could not keep pace with the Eagles, who jumped out to a 4-1 lead early.
Sophomore Adam Richards (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla./South Walton HS) got the start on the mound for BSC and ended up on the hook for the loss, tossing an inning and a two-thirds. Three other Panthers came in in relief during the game.
The BSC offensive effort was led by senior Tyler Wise (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS), reigning Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week, who finished the game with two RBI.
Birmingham-Southern will host Oglethorpe in its next game on Friday in the beginning of a weekend SAA series. First pitch on Friday night is set for 6 p.m.
