BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern football team got day two of its 2011 two-a-days under its belt, Monday, practicing once in full pads and once in shells.
"This morning we worked on third-down, GL, and two-minute situations," Head Coach Eddie Garfinkle said. "The afternoon practice was dedicated to the kicking game, which is finally beginning to come around. We have some young guys that can help us out in that area; two that stand out are freshmen defensive backs LaPrintence Gunn from Alex City and Devante Smith, from Bay Minette."
The Panthers will resume two-a-days this Thursday in preparation for their season opener on Sept. 3 against LaGrange College on the road. BSC plays its home opener on Sept. 10 against in-state rival Huntingdon College in the third-annual Wesley Cup Game.
