BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern football team had its sixth day of practice today, going full contact for the first time this pre-season in the morning, followed by a no-contact session in the afternoon.
The Panthers will host their annual Family Day tomorrow in Panther Stadium with an inter-squad scrimmage at 9 a.m. followed by a barbecue with the parents and families of the team.
"We had a good practice this morning," Head Coach Eddie Garfinkle said. "For the first time we went full contact work, 1's vs. 1's. We also worked on goal-line and third-down situations, and today was our first day of two-a-days. We practiced this afternoon in shorts and helmets and mostly concentrated on the kicking game. Senior quarterback Jimmy Stainback looked good in practice this morning."
BSC opens the 2012 season at home on Sept. 1 against LaGrange College at 1 p.m. in Panther Stadium.
