BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern football moved to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in Southern Athletic Association play with its 47-35 win over Austin College Saturday afternoon in Krulak Stadium. The Panthers have now won three straight.
Zack Seay (DeFuniak Springs, Fla./Freeport HS) rushed for a game-high 160 yards and three touchdowns. His longest was 42 yards. Trevor Oakes (Somerville, Ala./Hartselle HS) finished second on the team with 78 rushing yards. He also completed 19-of-36 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. His primary target was Gentry Neese (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS) who finished with a team-high 119 receiving yards. The Panthers offensive line dominated up front never allowing a single sack and allowing just three tackle for a loss.
A total team effort defensively from the trenches to the secondary helped the Panthers secure the win. Myles Myers (Alpharetta, Ga./Johns Creek HS) earned a team-high eight tackles, four solo, with 2.5 sacks for a loss of 16 yards, and four tackles for a loss of 19 yards. The linebacker also forced a fumble.
Ryder Andrews (Homewood, Ala./Homewood HS) earned 11 points going 2-for-3 in field goals and 5-for-5 on extra points. His longest of the day was a 46-yarder. He also had 389 kickoff yards and 260 punt yards, with one inside the 20.
The Panthers hit the road next. They take on No. 12 Berry College on Saturday, Nov. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central.
