BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Winning their 31st straight home contest, the No. 22 Birmingham-Southern Panthers defeated University of the Ozarks, 103-80, in their home opener Friday evening in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers are now 2-0 on the season.
Senior Caleb Lee and junior Kevin Kegarise led the Panthers with 17 points each, followed by senior Jasen Jonus with 12 and sophomore Colin Henry with 10. Junior Zac Richards led on the boards with 10 rebounds, and Kegarise and junior Blaise White had three assists each to lead the team.
The Panthers led for the majority of the game, with the exception of a three-minute stretch mid-way through the first half when Ozarks took the lead and led by five before BSC reclaimed the lead for the remainder of the game.
BSC shot well on the night, going 32-of-59 (54.2 percent) overall from the field and 13-of-29 (44.8 percent) from beyond the arc. The Panthers were also 26-of-35 (74.3 percent) from the free throw line.
The Eagles shot 26-of-60 (43.3 percent) overall, 6-of-19 (31.6 percent) from three-point range, and 22-of-27 (81.5 percent) from the line.
Rebounds were even at 35 for each team, but Ozarks committed more turnovers with 25 to the Panthers' 18.
The Panthers are back in action at home again on Sunday, facing Berry College at 3 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
