
ATLANTA, Ga.—Sophomore Larry Thomas has been named the Southern Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played December 17-30, the league office announced today.
Thomas (Atlanta, Ga.) had three 20-point games over the past two weeks, averaging 23.7 points a game for the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern. He scored 21 against Rust on Dec. 17, followed by a career-high 27 points against Guilford on Dec. 29 and 23 points against Maryville on Dec. 30. Thomas helped BSC to a 2-1 record over the three games. He also averaged 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.7 assists a game while shooting .578 from the field, .565 from three-point range, and .750 at the free throw line.
Thomas and the Panthers are at home this weekend for SAA action, hosting Sewanee on Friday at 8 p.m. and Centre on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
