BSC Men's Basketball Places Five on SAA All-Conference Teams

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –   Senior Blaise White was named the Southern Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year while five players earned all-conference honors according to the league office on Monday.

Senior Zac Richards and sophomore Larry Thomas were named to the SAA First-Team while White and Kevin Kegarise earned Honorable Mention laurels.

White earned Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year. The Roswell, Ga., native was second in the SAA in assists with 107 and second overall in assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.9) demonstrating his poise. On the other side of the ball, White was a fearless defender that collected a league-best 76 steals on the season, averaging nearly 3 thefts per contest on his way.

Richards finished his senior campaign as the second leading scorer averaging 14.7 points and led the team with 7.3 rebounds per game.   The Hoover, Ala., native finished his career with 1039 career points and 560 rebounds. His selection marked the second straight appearance on as a first-team all-conference performer.

Thomas averaged 10 points and seven rebounds in three tournament games. The Atlanta, Ga., native also had four assists and four steals. Thomas finished the year as the Panthers' leading scorer averaging 16.2 points and was second with 5.3 rebounds per game with 40 assists and 18 steal.

Kegarise averaged 11.7 points and made a team-best 79 shots from beyond the arc. The Franklin, Tenn., native was an 89 percent free throw shooter and had 45 assists and 21 steals this season.
