BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team fell to Louisiana College 96-86 in its home opener on Monday evening, dropping to 1-6 on the season.
The Panthers held a three-point, 41-38 over the Wildcats at halftime, but were outscored 58-45 in the final 20 minutes. The difference in the game came at the free throw line where the Wildcats made 95.7 percent of their free throws versus 55 percent for BSC.
Senior Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) led Birmingham-Southern with 29 points, tying a career high set in 2015. Deneka also led the team in rebounds with 13. Junior Zach Allison (Pelham, Ala./Wallace State Community College) recorded a team-high five assists.
Birmingham-Southern returns to Bill Battle Coliseum on Tuesday, Nov. 19 to host Belhaven at 5 p.m.
