BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team knocked off the Belhaven Blazers 93-68 at Bill Battle Coliseum on Tuesday evening.
The Panthers led for the entire game, jumping out to a 14-5 lead at the first media timeout. BSC would add on to its lead in the first half to go into halftime up 52-29.
Birmingham-Southern did not let up in the second half, either, outscoring the Blazers 41-39 in the final 20 minutes to give them the final 93-68 score.
BSC was led by senior Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS), who scored 19 points in 23 minutes on the floor. He also led all players with 12 rebounds and added two blocks.
Three other Panthers also hit double digits in the win. Freshman forward Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was four of five from the field for 13 points. He had nine rebounds and three steals.
With the win, Birmingham-Southern improves to 2-6 on the season. Both wins have come against Belhaven, the first being a 110-97 victory on the road.
The Panthers will look to carry the momentum from the win into their next game on Thursday, Dec. 21 against Huntingdon. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Bill Battle Coliseum.
