ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern men's basketball student-athlete Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was named the Southern Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The sophomore forward averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two contests against Louisiana College and Huntingdon, helping the Panthers to a 1-1 record last week.
Spence scored 19 points, the second most on the team, in an 86-84 home win over Louisiana College on Monday night. He followed that performance up with a career-high 28-point game against Huntingdon on Friday night.
Spence is BSC's leading scorer and rebounder so far this season, averaging 21 points-per-game and 8.7 rebounds-per-game.
Birmingham-Southern will host Pensacola Christian in its next game on Monday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
