PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – A rain-shortened Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate saw the Birmingham-Southern men's golf team place 14th out of 18 teams on Tuesday.
Teams played the first round to completion on Monday but were unable to finish the final round on Tuesday due to the weather. Monday's scorecards were the only ones counted as official.
BSC finished round one with a team score of 310, putting the Panthers 22-over par for the tournament.
Senior Steven LaMay (Parkland, Fla./Westminster Academy) led Birmingham-Southern with a 72. He finished the tournament tied for 13th at even par.
Senior Torben Krieger (Ruppichteroth, Germany / Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen) and sophomore Blake Schambeau (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) finished seven-over par, while sophomore Thomas Iturbe (Mobile, Ala./UMS-Wright Prep) ended his round eight-over.
Junior Colin MacLane (Oviedo, Fla./The Master's Academy) finished 10-over par.
Birmingham-Southern's next tournament will stay in the state of Georgia for its next tournament, the Jekyll Island Collegiate, at the Pine Lakes Golf Course March 15-18.
