Men's Lacrosse falls to undefeated Colorado College, 9-5
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team lost on the road today to
Colorado College, 9-5, in Colorado Springs.The Panthers fall to 6-6 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC; the Tigers remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
The Tigers scored the first four goals of the game before junior Jacob McPherson put BSC's first goal on the board with 44 seconds left in the first quarter. CC out-scored the Panthers 3-2 in the second quarter and led 7-3 at halftime.
BSC was able to cut it to 8-5 after the third quarter, but did not score a goal in the fourth quarter, while giving one up to the Tigers for a final score of 9-5.
McPherson and junior D.J. Ward each scored two goals, while sophomore Matt Ivie scored one. Ward also had an assist, and sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Huffman led with four ground balls. Senior Ben Schaefer led with three caused turnovers. Huffman played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded 12 saves.
The Panthers have two more games on the 2011 regular season schedule, both on the road; they take on Sewanee on Friday, April 15, and Centre on Sunday, April 17.
