Men's Lacrosse falls to Sewanee, 12-4

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team dropped a conference game on Friday evening, losing to Sewanee 12-4 on Battle Field at Panther Stadium.

BSC falls to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the Tigers move to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the SAA.

Sewanee opened the game with three straight goals before the Panthers answered with goals from freshmen Sawyer Page and McHale Schneider to close out the first quarter. The Tigers dominated play after that, though, scoring three unanswered goals in the second period to lead 6-2 at halftime, and out-scoring BSC 6-1 in the third quarter, BSC's lone goal coming from sophomore Evan Lalande. Lalande found the net again in the fourth quarter to wrap up the game's scoring.

Freshman Thomas Grove led the Panthers with seven ground balls and nine face-off wins, and freshman Robert Dozier led with three caused turnovers. Junior Conor Perine recorded 15 saves in goal for BSC.

Sewanee's Michael Morris, the 2013 SAA Player of the Year, led the Tigers with three goals and three assists, and Sewanee goalkeeper Tommy Healy made eight saves.

The Panthers are at home again this Sunday, facing Centre College at 1 p.m.
