ATLANTA – Six Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse student-athletes were selected to Southern Athletic Association all-conference teams the conference announced on Tuesday.
The Panthers had one named to All-SAA First Team, two to the Second Team and three picked Honorable Mention.
Junior midfielder Davis Thompson (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes HS) was BSC's First Team selection. This season, Thompson scored 42 goals and recorded a conference-high 27 assists, leading the SAA in shots and points. His 42 goals were second most on the team and third most in the SAA.
On the SAA Second Team are junior attack Peyton Taylor (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) and junior midfielder Greg Wallace (Fairhope, Ala./Bayside Academy). Taylor was BSC's goals leader with 46, second most in the conference. He was third in the SAA in shots and tied for third in total points with 52.
Wallace started in 14 of BSC's 18 matches, finishing the season with 18 goals and 10 assists. He also had 50 groundballs and six caused turnovers.
BSC All-SAA Honorable Mentions were sophomore attack Taylor Carson (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS), senior defender Christian Englehart (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) and sophomore goalie Matt Quill (Fort Mill, S.C./Coker College).
Carson scored 30 goals this season and assisted on 21 others. His 21 assists were the third most in the SAA. He had 28 groundballs and a 60.2 shot-on-goal percentage.
Englehart was crucial to BSC's success on defense this season, causing 14 turnovers. He started 14 of the 16 matches he played in, and he added three goals and an assist.
Quill started in 15 of the 17 matches he played in in goal this season, playing over 1000 minutes. He ended the year with a 10-6 record, a conference-high 189 saves and a 55.2 save percentage.
Birmingham-Southern had the fourth most all-conference selections behind Rhodes and Berry with 10 and Sewanee with eight.
