BSC Takes Road Win Over Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team kept its perfect early season record intact on Wednesday night, defeating the Huntingdon Hawks 4-1 to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Panthers opened up the scoring in the 7th minute with a goal from senior forward Adam Clausen. Clausen's third goal of the season came off an assist from sophomore forward Brett Feringa.

BSC's second goal came 13 minutes later when sophomore midfielder Ryan Hepp, tied with Clausen as the team leader in goals scored, found the back of the net off an assist from junior defender Luke Hambleton.

Birmingham-Southern closed out the first half with another goal, this time from freshman midfielder Corby Groark, his first career goal. Groark's goal came off an assist from senior forward Bryant Hamby.

At halftime, the Panthers led the Hawks 3-0.

Huntingdon, attempting a comeback, got the scoring started in the second 45 minutes with the Hawks' Tyler Watts ending the shutout with a goal in the 51st minute. However, Watts' goal was not enough to overcome the Panthers' lead.

In the 75th minute, senior forward Trey O'Bryant capped the scoring and gave BSC the final 4-1 lead to secure the win.

BSC's next match will be at the Berry College Tournament in Rome, Ga. The Panthers will take on Transylvania on Saturday, Sept. 9 with kickoff set for 11:00 A.M. EDT.
