ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern men's soccer student-athlete Galen Curry (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS) was named the Southern Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Curry, returning off a 2017 junior season where he was named a Second Team All-SAA performer, started in both matches for the Panthers in the BSC Labor Day Classic over the weekend. He kept a clean sheet in the first game against Cal Lutheran, helping BSC to a 3-0 win.
In the final match of the tournament, he held the University of the Ozarks to one goal in the game, which BSC won 2-1 in overtime.
Over the weekend, Curry recorded nine saves and is 2-0 in goal this season.
Curry and the Panthers will face the Huntingdon Hawks at home on Tuesday, Sept. 4 with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
