SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team defeated the Sewanee Tigers 1-0 on Friday night, improving to 9-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the Southern Athletic Association.
A second-half goal by Panther junior forward Jackson Lynn (Homewood, Ala./Homewood HS) proved to be the game-winner, sending BSC to its first win since September.
After a scoreless first half, Lynn found his goal in the 55th minute thanks to an assist by senior defender Luke Hambleton (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Choctawhatchee HS).
Lynn's goal would prove to be enough, in the end, to take down the home team Sewanee. The Panthers defense continued to keep the Tigers out of the net and secured their fifth clean sheet of the season.
Goalkeeper Galen Curry (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS), who played all 90 minutes, recorded seven saves in the shutout.
Birmingham-Southern will wrap up its road trip on Sunday, October 14 against Centre College. Kickoff for the game against the Colonels is scheduled to begin at 2:30 ET.
