Men's Tennis advances to semifinals of SAA Championship with 7-2 win against Berry

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The third-seeded Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team won today in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Southern Athletic Association Championship, defeating sixth-seeded Berry, 7-2, at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

BSC moves to 11-4, and will face second-seeded Oglethorpe tomorrow at noon.

The Panthers won at two and three doubles, with sophomore Patrick Hire and freshman Alex Makarenko combining to win 8-0 at two doubles, and juniors Brian Brandt and Ben Reardon winning at three doubles, 8-2. BSC went on to win five of six singles matches to clinch the 7-2 victory.
