BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team dominated singles play en route to its 7-2 win over Covenant College at home Saturday. The Panthers are now 2-1 on the year.
All three doubles won handily paced by Jameson Bekaert (Johns Creek, Ga./Rivers Academy) and Isaac Eck (Boca Raton, Fla./Home Schooled) in the No. 1 spot who earned the 8-4 win. Both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles won their matches 8-5.
In singles play, Bekaert continued to dominate, defeating Paxton Haggerty 6-1, 6-1. Anthony Pellegrini (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville HS) picked up his second win of the season out of the No. 1 position. Eck, and Alex Wisener (Horton, Ala./Douglas HS) also earned singles win.
BSC remains at home for the next match. They take on NCAA Division II Montevallo at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15.
