Panthers Compete at JSU Struts Season Opener

OXFORD, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's cross country team competed at the Jacksonville State University Struts Cross Country Season Opener 5K race at Choccolocco Park on Friday evening.

The Panthers finished 13th out of 15 squads at the meet with a total time of 1:41:45.0 and an average time of 20:21.00.

Sophomore Beck Wilkes (Winfield, Ala./Winfield HS) was the top finisher for the Panthers, placing 110th with a time of 18:22.

Senior Raleigh Schmidt (Madison, Ala./James Clemens HS), sophomore Griffin Riner (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS), sophomore Claude Hall (Mobile, Ala./Davidson HS) and freshman Carl Albright (Mountain Brook, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) also competed for BSC in the meet.

Birmingham-Southern will compete next at the Falcon Classic at Montevallo on Saturday, Sept. 7.
