BSC Runs at SAA Championship on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's cross country travels to Rome, Ga., on Saturday to compete in the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Championship.

Birmingham-Southern has raced in five meets leading up to the conference championship with the Panthers' best finish coming at the UAH Chargers Cross Country Open when they came in 11th overall.

Sophomore Beck Wilkes (Winfield, Ala./Winfield HS) has been BSC's most consistent top finisher this season, finishing first for the Panthers in four of their five meets. His best placement this season was a 70th-place finish at the Montevallo Falcon Classic when he completed the 8k in 28:40.2.

Freshman Tony Parisi (Marietta, Ga./Pope HS) was BSC's other top runner when he was the first Panther to cross the finish line at the UAB Blazer Classic. He ended the 8k with a time of 27:52.6.

Senior Raleigh Schmidt (Madison, Ala./James Clemens HS), sophomore Claude Hall (Mobile, Ala./Davidson HS), sophomore Griffin Riner (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS), and freshman Carl Albright (Mountain Brook, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) have also been featured in races this season.

Last season, Birmingham-Southern finished sixth in the SAA Championship.
