BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Sophomore shortstop Taylor Bassett has been named First-Team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Bassett was recently voted 2013 Southern Athletic Association Softball Player of the Year, and was also named Co-Female Athlete of the Year at BSC's annual Athletics Awards Banquet on May 6. She ranked second in the nation in home runs with 17, and led the SAA in batting average (.459), RBIs (47), and home runs.
Bassett also broke the NCAA single-game walks record on April 26 against Hendrix, when the Warriors walked her seven times. She is also now BSC's career leader in home runs with 21, and owns the single-season record after hitting 17 this year.
Bassett is now eligible for NFCA All-America accolades, which will be announced this Thursday.
