BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team dropped its series finale to Millsaps College Sunday afternoon 5-2. The Panthers moved to 12-10 with the loss and 6-5 against Southern Athletic Association opponents.
Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the team offensively.
Millsaps took the lead in the fifth inning off a throwing error. They extended the lead to five in the sixth.
BSC tried started a rally in the bottom of the seventh. Catherine Coffey (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) walked on five pitches. She moved to second on a single by Abby Spencer (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS). The pair advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch.
After the next batter grounded out for the second out, Crumpton singled to left field, scoring both Coffey and Spencer. The Majors then intentionally walked Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) for the third time.
