Softball Sweeps LaGrange in Catfight

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team improved to 23-10 overall after sweeping LaGrange College on the road Wednesday. BSC defeated the Panthers 6-2 in game one before taking game two 7-3.


Abby Spencer (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS) had a monster day at the plate.  She went 4-for-6 with two RBI and two runs.  Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS), Kolyn Kyser (Springville, Ala./Springville HS), and Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) earned three hits of their own in the wins.  Kyser knocked a team-best five RBI.


Both Crumpton and Jessica Perley (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia HS) earned complete game wins.  Crumpton struck out nine and finished with a 0.00 ERA after giving up just three hits.


BSC returns to conference play this weekend.  They head to Rome, Ga. to face off against No. 8 Berry in a battle for the regular season title.  The two sit in first and second place respectively in the Southern Athletic Association.
