BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Seniors Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) and Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) were named Southern Athletic Association Player and Pitcher of the Week for helping lead the Birmingham-Southern softball team to a 5-0 week. This is the first weekly honor for both this season.
Lee hit four home runs in five games to help lead BSC to an undefeated 5-0 week. She finished with nine total hits, including two doubles, 13 RBI and four runs on her way to a 1.643 slugging percentage. Lee is ranked nationally in six categories, including 13th in home runs where she leads the league.
Crumpton picked up two complete game wins and a save in three appearances on the mound this week to help lead BSC to a 5-0 week that included a 3-0 sweep of conference rival Centre College. She pitched 14 scoreless innings and struck out a team-best 22 batters. Hitters averaged 0.106 at the plate against her. Nationally ranked in 12 categories, she currently leads the league in five categories, including saves where she is No. 1 in the country.
