BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Accolades to No. 6 Birmingham-Southern softball keep rolling in. The Panthers placed four on National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region teams, the organization announced recently.
BSC (35-7) has the most selections of any Southern Athletic Association school.
The group was headlined by SAA Newcomer of the Year junior Bailey Murphy (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS). She was named first-team all-region at the designated player position. Ranked nationally in 10 different categories, Murphy finished her season 18th in RBI, knocking in 49.
Earning second-team honors were seniors Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) and Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS). The pair have earned all-region honors all four years of their career. Crumpton ranked nationally in eight categories and led the league in six of them. The conference pitcher of the year finished her season second in the country in saves with five. Lee ranked nationally in seven categories and led the league in four. She finished fourth in the country in RBI, setting a new single-season program record with 54.
Making her first appearance on an all-region team was fellow senior Abby Spencer (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS). She was named third-team all-region. She ranked nationally in six categories and led the league in two. Ranked eighth in the country in on-base percentage, Spencer led the team in hits, walks, and batting average.
