BSC Swimming And Diving Finishes Fourth At SAA Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --  Drew Priede, Duncan Bonney, Hannah Busk and Cody Spradlin added individual titles to the Birmingham-Southern medal count on the final day of the Southern Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Priede out distanced the field in the 1650-yard freestyle, turning in a 16:11.54 and Bonney claimed gold in the men's 100-yard breaststroke with a 2:03.06.  Busk posted a NCAA B-cut time of 2:04.24 in the women's 200-yard backstroke and Cody Spradlin won the three-meter diving with 399.25 points to add to his one meter diving title from Friday.

Molly Waddell, Wil Cushman and the BSC men's 400-yard freestyle relay team claimed silver medals. Waddell posted a 53.92 in the women's 100-yard freestyle while Cushman posted a 1:56.71 for silver in the 200-yard backstroke.   Bonney, Cushman, Saul Hack and Priede teamed up to swim a 3:07.80 in the 400-free relay.

Lauren Robetson, Steej Wilson and Cushman all claimed bronze medals. Robertson was third in the 1650-yard freestyle with an 18:07.79 and Wilson was third in the women's three-meter diving with 219 points. Kristen Stempak, Hannah Busk, Lauren Kinsey and Waddell took bronze with a 3:36.21 in the women's 400-freestyle relay.

The BSC men and women claimed fourth in the team standings with 629 and 520 points, respectively. Sewanee won the men's team title followed Centre and Berry in second and third.   Centre won the women's team title while Rhodes was second with 719 points, four points ahead with 714 points.
