BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern's Duncan Bonney, Hannah Busk and Cody Spradlin claimed the high point swimmers and diver following the Southern Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Birmingham CrossPlex last weekend. Bonney and Busk were also named the SAA Men's and Women's Newcomers of the Year following the event.
Bonney was the SAA Men's High Point Swimmer, winning the 200 individual medley, the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. Bonney was a key part on the first place 800-yard freestyle relay team and won silver on the 400-yard free relay and 200-yard medley and garnered bronze on the 200-freestyle relay.
Busk tied with Centre's Clark Weber for the Women's High Point winner. Busk claimed individual titles in the 100-yard individual medley, the 200-yard backstroke, and took home silver in the 100-yard backstroke. She was also on the second-place 200-yard medley, 200-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard medley relay teams and won bronze on the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Cody Spradlin won the one-meter and three-meter diving championships and was awarded the meets' high point diver.
Overall the Panthers finished fourth in the men's and women's team standings, winning 12 gold and seven sliver medal individual and team events over the three days.
The Southern Athletic Association is schedule to release its All-Conference Swimming and Diving teams on Tuesday.
