INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams broke more school records on both the men's and women's side as they closed out competition at the Hall of Champions Meet.
Becca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) broke the programs 100 free and 100 breaststroke records, while qualifying for the "A" final in the latter. Erwin went on to place sixth, just .03 behind the fifth place finisher, among swimmers from five different NCAA Division I programs.
Noah Young (Clinton, Miss./Clinton HS) also qualified for an "A" final. His time of 51.37 in the 100 backstroke was good for sixth place. Teammate Justin Staab (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook HS) not only broke the school's 200 fly record, but his time of 1:52.14 made the NCAA "B" cut.
This was the Panthers last meet before the new year. They open 2017 at home in a tri-meet against Sewanee and West Florida. The meet is set for Friday, Jan. 13 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
