ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern swept the swimming category of the Southern Athletic Association's weekly swimming and diving honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Erwin, in her first meet of the year, put together a solid performance at the House of Champions Invitational meet in Indianapolis last weekend. She earned an "A" cut time of 1:05.73 in the 100-yard breaststroke and a finals time of 1:05.50 to place sixth in the event. Erwin also recorded a "B" cut time of 24.02 in the 50-yard freestyle prelims before placing 13th in the finals with a time of 24.04.
Dunne was Birmingham-Southern's top performer at the House of Champions. On the first day of competition, Dunne was a member of BSC's four-man team that broke the program's 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.43. On day two of the meet, Dunne would go on to break the BSC 400-yard IM record in the preliminaries with a time of 3:59.53. He placed sixth in the event finals. On the third day, he broke the program 200-yard backstroke record twice, first in the preliminaries and then again in the finals. In the prelims, Dunne posted a time of 1:50.91 and followed it up with the new record time of 1:50.32 in the finals. He finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke event.
Erwin and Dunne will compete with their Panther teammates next in 2018 when Birmingham-Southern hosts Hendrix College on Saturday, Jan. 13.
