BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Nine Birmingham-Southern swimmers will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships in Indianapolis March 21-24. The championships are hosted by Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corp. and will be held at the IUPUI Natatorium.
Three men and one women's student-athlete will compete as individuals. On the men's side, freshman Patrick Dunne (Mobile, Ala./McGill-Toolen Catholic HS), sophomore Noah Young (Clinton, Miss./Clinton HS) and sophomore Nico Medina (Hollywood, Fla./American Heritage HS) will swim in seven individual events.
Medina will swim in the 500- and 200-yard freestyles and the 1650-yard freestyle. Dunne and Young will both swim in the 200-yard IM and 200-yard backstroke races. Dunne will also compete in the 400-yard IM and Young will participate in the 100-yard backstroke.
On the women's side, sophomore Becca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) will swim in the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard freestyle.
The other five Panthers who earned the opportunity to compete at the NCAA Championships are Wil Barton (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School), Ryan Emili (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage HS), Rachel Sullivan (Cumming, Ga./North Forsyth HS), Savannah Barber (St. Petersburg, Fla./Northside Christian HS) and Mary Beth Ronne (Athens, Tenn./McMinn County HS).
Alongside Dunne, Young, Medina and Erwin, the five swimmers will be a part of their respective 800-free, 400-free, 200-free and 200-yard medley relay teams.
