BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams hosted the Emory Eagles at the Birmingham Crossplex Saturday morning in the Panthers home-opening meet.
BSC was swept by Emory with the men's team falling to the Eagles 186-102 and the women's team losing 178-110. The men and women competed in 16 events each.
One student-athlete picked up a first-place finish for the women. Freshman Anna Jordan Luth (Pensacola, Fla./Booker T. Washington HS) finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.95.
Two program diving records were also broken. Freshman James Hughes (Huntsville, Ala./Grissom HS) shattered the 1-meter six dives record with a score of 296.25, and he followed it up by breaking the 3-meter six dives record with a 293.85.
Birmingham-Southern's next meet will be against SCAD and Loyola of New Orleans on homecoming, Saturday, October 20. The Panthers will host the meet at the Birmingham Crossplex starting at 10 a.m.
