TUNICA, Miss. – The Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams traveled to compete against Rhodes College on Saturday, falling to the Lynx with a combined score of 290-233.
Junior Tristan Sumpter (Duluth, Ga./Peachtree Ridge HS) led the Panther men, taking first in two events. He won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.22 and took first in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 2:01.23.
Junior Nico Medina (Hollywood, Fla./American Heritage HS) and freshman Hayden Henderson (Tupelo, Miss./Tupelo HS) also had top finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke, respectively. Freshman Joshua Wong (Abaco, Bahamas/Asheville School) finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke.
For the women, seniors Chelsea Chamblee (Boaz, Ala./Boaz HS) and Kayla Canon (Wentzville, Mo./Blue Springs South HS) earned top place in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke, respectively. Junior Jenna Luth (Pensacola, Fla./Booker T. Washington HS) also finished in first place in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Birmingham-Southern's next event will be the Wabash Invitational on Nov. 16-18.
