ATLANTA – Three Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving student-athletes were named Southern Athletic Association Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Women's junior swimmer Becca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) was named the SAA Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Erwin had an impressive showing at the Wabash Invitational in Crawfordsville, Indiana, over the weekend, helping the BSC women to a first-place finish at the meet. In individual events, she won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.90 and the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.13. She was also a member of the first-place 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relay teams.
Dunne captured three individual events: the 200-yard IM, the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke. He was also a member of four first-place relay teams, helping the Panthers to a second-place finish at the Wabash meet.
Hughes earned the conference diver of the week honor by finishing fourth place in both the one-meter and three-meter board competitions.
Birmingham-Southern will compete in its next meet at the Berry College Invite on January 11-12.
