MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams swept the competition at the Berry College Invite on Saturday, with both the men's and women's teams taking first place.
The Panthers got 2019 off to a good start as the women's team racked up 867 points and the men's team earned 887 points to win the meet.
The women's team faced off against the host Berry, Brenau University and Point University, while the men's team defeated the likes of Berry and Point.
Of the combined 40 events, BSC student-athletes took first place in 23 of them.
Luth took first in the 200-yard breaststroke, the 400-yard IM and the 200-yard IM with times of 2:33.35, 4:42.74 and 2:12.77, respectively.
Erwin's three top finishes came in the 100-yard breaststroke, the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Erwin's times were 1:07.32 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 5:05.99 in the 500-yard freestyle and 53.06 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Henderson won the 200-yard breaststroke event with a mark of 2:14.49 and won the 200-yard IM event with a time of 2:02.08.
Stoneking took first place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:21.35 and was first in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:10.20.
Birmingham-Southern also won several relays: the women's 200-yard freestyle, women's 400-yard medley, men's 200-yard medley, women's 800-yard freestyle, men's 800-yard freestyle, women's 400-yard freestyle and the men's 400-yard freestyle.
Birmingham-Southern will host Berry at the Birmingham Crossplex for its next meet on Saturday, Jan. 19.
