Shute Named Track Athlete of the Year, Women Earn Six All-SAA Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern women's track and field team earned six Southern Athletic Association All-Conference honors.  The group was led by senior Shute who earned the Female Track Athlete of the Year award.

 

Karmin Shute (Fayetteville, Ga./The Walker School) picked up three titles at the championships.  She won the 200m and 400m individual events and was a part of the championship 4x100m relay squad.  For the work, she was named first-team all-conference.  Joining her on first team were fellow relay members Rebecca Bryant (Decatur, Ga./Marist School), Alexus Lindsey (Holly Pond, Ala./Fairview HS), and Taylor Trotman (Birmingham, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS).

 

Picking up their first all-conference nods were throwers Earen Robinson (Mobile, Ala./McGill-Toolen Catholic HS) and Jakayla Wright (Theodore, Ala./Theodore HS).  Both were named to the second team after earning silver medals in their respective events.
