Shute Named USTFCCCA South/Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern track and field senior Karmin Shute (Fayetteville, Ga./The Walker School) was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South/Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year.  Shute is the second Panther in three years to garner the honor and the first women's track athlete to win the award since 2013.

Shute earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the 100m, 200m, and 400m meter races.  She is now primed to compete at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week in both the 100m and 200m dashes.  Shute owns the second fastest 200m time in the nation.  Her 100m time of 11.82 is the fourth fastest in the country this season and only 0.02 seconds off the BSC record.
