NCAA Championships: Shute Advances to 200m Finals

LA CROSSE, Wisc. – Senior Karmin Shute (Fayetteville, Ga./The Walker School) advanced to the 200m dash finals of the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday after finishing in sixth overall in the prelims. 

Shute crossed in 25.01 seconds to earn her spot.  Fellow senior Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC)  ran in the men's 200m dash.  He finished less than a second off his personal record, but placed 13th overall in the prelims.

The pair will compete tomorrow evening in the 100m prelims.  Watkins is the reigning 100m champion and looking to defend his title. 

Freshman Luke Ballard (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) gets his chance at the hardware tomorrow as well.  The javelin competition begins at 11 a.m. For more information on the startlist and results, click here.
